Volkl Kendo
The Volkl Kendo is a favorite ski for the strong intermediate to expert skier who like stability and power in a ski made for turning, whether it be bumps or carving groomers. With the addition of tail rocker this is the first time this ski has really changed structurally since it’s inception. The Kendo does maintain some camber underneath the foot to allow it solid edge grip while the taper in the Tip and tail prevent the tips and tails from getting hung up in fresh snow and improve your maneuverability.
The Kendo’s wood core uses vertically laminated strips of wood and a full titanal Layer to plow through crud, drive into firm terrain and overall deliver one damp ride regardless of conditions. The sidewall runs the length of the ski for maximum edge hold and stability.
The width of this ski does provide you with some flotation for lower end powder days while being nimble in the bumps and maneuverable on the groomers. The 90mm waist of the Kendo truly shines when you are making medium to long radius turns on a crud covered groomer, but also can give you the flotation you need dropping into Aspen Highlands Bowl, because well there is fresh snow up there almost every day.
The Kendo really is best suited for skiers who like to charge, you will have no trouble getting the Kendo to respond nicely to changes in terrain and conditions and will really appreciate the amount of stability the ski provides for high speed skiing.
