The Ripstick has become one of the most popular skis in the industry, it didn’t hurt the the legendary Glen Plake choose this as one of his go to sticks for powder. If you know Elan and the Ripstick then you know that they creates a lightweight ski that handles powder with ease, has enough power for variable conditions and practically skips uphill. So then what is the “Black” edition? They punched it up with ultra light, ultra strong carbon. The 106 is stronger, wider and bolder, loaded with all the best tricks Elan has; Vapor Tip Insertes, the Tubelite Woodcore, the Amphibio profile and more. Finished off with the black carbon top sheet these skis are the equilivalant of the AMEX Black Card!
Elan Ripstick Black Edition 96
If you are looking for a mid fat powder ski with a buttery smooth feel this is it. The Amphibio Technology keeps the ski in constant contact with the snow thanks to a right and left ski specific camper. This gives the inside of the ski more hold while the outside is eased for quicker turn initiation. This works so well you will ikely see it on more skis in the future. With the 96 inch wasit this will be a great ski for powder days of about 4 to 8 inches, more than that and you are going to want a little more float and a little more power.
With the Black edition you do get the carbon tubes that run the length of the skis for a consistent, responsive flex while keeping the ski really light. This will be a great ski rental if you are going to ski Highlands Bowl as it will be light on the hike while maneuverable and stable on the way down!
